Tree Talks & Walks: West End and Stanley Park (for Easter Parade)
Sunday, April 20th at 1:30-3:30PM
Leader: Wendy Cutler
Language of instruction: English
The Easter Parade will begin at 1:20 with some singing to jolly us up and show off our Easter Bonnets, after which we will seek out trees in bloom in the West End and Stanley Park. The starting location will be Burrard Station, at street level overlooking the lower-level entrance to the trains (map with the exact location marked will be emailed on event week). This walk is about 4 km one way, and will take two hours or more. Participants will be within three blocks of public transportation from the starting location for the duration of the walk and are free to leave as they choose. Note that the trees at Burrard Station will have long finished blooming by the walk date, but the late bloomers have arrived! We will examine how to identify trees by more than their blossoms, but there will be rare cherries in bloom in the West End and in Stanley Park around the rhododendron garden, as well as some streets of fluffy pink 'Kanzan' trees. This is a one-way walk. We will end at the heronry.
Please ensure you have read our new registration policy before signing up for each walk. Limited spots available.
